L.M. Krier Talk and Book Signing

Stockport Libraries are delighted to welcome L.M. Krier to Stockport Central Library for an author talk and book signing.

Lesley will be sharing the popular Ted Darling crime fiction series and taking a light hearted look at this totally different type of detective. Book 13 in the series is due out in September.

Stockport Pride 2019

Join us in the town centre for a day of entertainment, community groups, charities, crafts and food and drink.

Enjoy the selection of singers, dancers and drag queens on The Martyn Hett Stage, sponsored by Pets at Home. And check out the stalls in the Stockport Pride Market Hall, sponsored by Stockport Homes.

As this year marks 50 years since the start of the modern LGBT+ rights movement in New York, we are asking if you would bring any placards or banners that represent the past 50 years of rights campaigning.

Staircase House

Stockport Pride family space will be hosted by Proud 2 b Parents. This fun and friendly space will be at Staircase House in Stockport's Historic Market Place. From 12pm to 4pm, there will be soft fun play equipment for under 7 year olds, plus no mess rainbow arts and crafts.

The Light Cinema Stockport

Set in the summer of 1984 – Margaret Thatcher is in power and the National Union of Mineworkers is on strike. At the Gay Pride March in London, a group of gay and lesbian activists decides to raise money to support the families of the striking miners.

The true story of Harvey Milk, the first openly gay man ever elected to public office. In San Francisco in the late 1970s, Harvey Milk becomes an activist for gay rights and inspires others to join him in his fight for equal rights.

This is the courageous story of the son of a Baptist pastor in a small American town, who must overcome the fallout of being outed to his parents. He is pressured into attending a conversion therapy programme. While there he begins his journey to finding his own voice and accepting his true self.
